On offer here we have a stunning solid oak coffer / trunk / blanket box
dating to the Georgian period of the the late 18th century. Beautifully
engraved, the plank top is hinged over a fan carved frieze above three
panels featuring traditional geometric lozenge carvings with a central
diamond divided by pillars of rosettes and surmounted atop block feet.
Of panelled construction also to sides and rear the coffer is raised on
original block feet. Solid in build and free from any worm the top has
split in the past but has been well repaired as you can see in the
photos leaving only a slight bow in doing so. Overall a good piece of
practical period furniture which will give many years of use and
enjoyment.
This item is solid and usable but is also old so is not ‘as new’ but is offered in good condition for
its age as you can see from the photographs. 'Save a tree buy this antique'
